Christmas Vacation

This Christmas I was lucky enough to have an entire week off to be with my family. Where to begin?? Mason has made huge advancements in his mobility. He is now vertical. He went from scooting everywhere to halfway crawling to pulling himself up onto anything and everything. I can't believe how quickly it has all happened. On the 22nd I was sitting on the floor with him when I glanced over at him and he had pulled himself up to standing for the first time. I couldn't believe it. Ever since then he just wants to be standing. Christmas Eve was our first wedding anniversary. Troy gave me a necklace, flowers and a cute card. I gave him a personalized Starbucks tumbler with pictures of us and Mason. Christmas morning we let Mason open his present from Santa; an Ernie stuffed toy. At this point he was more interested in eating the paper than what was actually under the paper. It was fun to watch him tear at the paper though. My favorite gift I got this year was my new sewing machine! It's great, I'm excited to put it to good use.
Saturday we drove to Pacific City to celebrate our anniversary. We had lunch and took some pictures on the beach. The weather was perfect, blue sky and not that cold.
This vacation flew by but it was really great.

Magical Classical

Every night for his bedtime routine I brush his teeth (all two of them) and we sit down in the rocking chair under a blanket and I read him at least two stories. I have found a great companion in the library so that I never tire of the same book every night. Mason has developed a favorite book which is read at the end of the story session - "Monday the Bullfrog". After the story time I swaddle him and we rock some more but this time to the tunes of 89.9fm aka what I call our Magical Classical music. I am amazed at how wonderfully this works for settling him down. He snuggles up and quietly falls asleep as we listen to the likes of Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, and one of my favorites Brahms. I never thought I would listen to this genre by choice but I have taken quite a liking to it. Some nights are more of a fight than others to get him to bed but for the most part Magical Classical does the trick.

Today he is seven months old. As I am writing this post, I had just delivered him by Cesarean at 8:31pm on May 4th. I can't believe it. I know it's cliche and I will continue to say this throughout his life but 'where has the time gone?' He's getting so big and his personality is really starting to come out. The house is decorated for the holiday and I can't wait to spend our first Christmas together as a family. Being that it's his first Christmas has really gotten me into the spirit this year. My prediction is that he will be fully crawling by Christmas morning. I will keep posted on that one. The army crawl is all we've got now. Watching him learn and grow has got to be the most rewarding gift I've ever been given.

Up-Dog

So lately Little Mister has been able to get on his hands and knees and rock front to back a couple of times but for the most part it consists of Upward Facing Dog pose or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana. Previously his favorite position was Cobra, but with his chest and hips now fully off the ground we have graduated to up-dog. Another of his favorite poses: full locust or Salambhasana. He lies on his belly with legs and arms fully lifted behind him. It's amazing! I love yoga and would love to begin practicing again soon. Perhaps my little yogini can teach me a thing or two.
